Stridewise Takes on Fat Fox Selvedge

Stridewise Takes on Fat Fox Selvedge
Jan 8, 2026

We couldn’t be prouder of our latest effort at testing the boundaries of what’s possible with pants: the Fat Fox Selvedge, otherwise known as the market’s most heavyweight canvas pants.

Nick and Troy from the boots-and-jeans blog Stridewise recently published a video (an unsponsored one, as Nick accurately laments) where they tested and tried on two pairs of these historic pants, made with 22.7-ounce duck canvas.

As Nick puts it:

“Naked & Famous did their best to make this the most unusual and impressive canvas.

One reason for that: it’s so very, very thick.
Number two: it’s woven on shuttle looms, which are very hard to operate, especially for making this magic sort of fabric.

Another thing I love is that they’ve left a lot of the cotton seeds in the fabric. In my experience, they eventually wash out, but I really like that. It adds extra texture and makes you think about where it’s from.

And the other thing that’s very important here is that this is FoxFibre cotton. Sally Fox is a brilliant scientist who has spent the last 40 years engineering cotton that grows naturally in different colors, without dye.

So I really like that while they were breaking the boundaries of what’s possible with canvas and cotton, they chose a cotton that truly deserves to be celebrated and highlighted.”
