Heather Grey Selvedge

The Heather Grey Selvedge is a 13.5oz Japanese selvedge denim woven using what Japanese mills refer to as top-dyed yarns. Rather than dyeing finished yarns a single flat color, grey cotton fibers in different tones are blended together at the fiber stage before spinning. This mixing of light and dark grey fibers is what creates the fabric’s heathered appearance, similar to classic mixed-grey sweatshirts.

Because the color is achieved through fiber blending rather than surface dyeing, subtle tonal variations remain visible throughout the yarn and fabric. The result is a naturally layered grey with depth and visual softness, avoiding the flat, uniform look of piece-dyed or yarn-dyed greys.

Initially rigid, the denim is designed to break in gradually with wear. Over time, the fabric softens and molds to the body while retaining its structure and textured character. The end result is a refined grey selvedge denim that balances durability, comfort, and understated visual complexity.
